 Joanie (Hammes) Spencer
Senior Account Executive
Joanie (Hammes) Spencer has more than five years experience in advertising and public relations at agencies such as Bernstein-Rein and Fleishman-Hillard in Kansas City and Arment Dietrich Public Relations in Chicago. She dabbled in journalism, writing for the Columbia Missourian, before sliding over to the advertising/PR side of the tracks, when she realized how much she enjoyed the relationships she cultivated with her sources. She is much happier writing for clients than she was writing about sources.
Joanie has a BA in communication from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., and an MA in journalism from the University of Missouri. When she’s not in front of her laptop, she’s planning her wedding and trying to wean her fiancé off the nacho machine at his office.
If Joanie could choose a nickname for herself in high school, it would have to be “motor-mouth” — between cheerleading and the school plays and musicals, it was always running.
