Looking back and seeing what you should have done is easy, especially on Monday morning after a weekend of watching football. Looking back in my business life is a little tougher because you have to own your missteps.  I should have hired this person or not hired that one or done this or that or maybe even said out loud in frustration, "Wow, that was a really stupid decision!".  And, for those of you out there who say you don't dwell on the past or I never look back, you're lying and we all know it or if you are telling the truth you are incredibly short sighted.  I recently got to look back at BIGSHOT™ and talk about some of my shoulda, woulda, coulda moments and how Micheal Gerber's book "The Emyth Revisited" helped me learn from other small businesses owners' mistakes.  Reading the book I found that some of my bad calls were much more commonplace than I expected.

Kelly Scanlon from kcsmallbiz.com asked me to be on her weekly radio program "The Business Hour" broadcast on Hot Talk Radio 1510AM KCTE.  Here is a link to the show if you would like to LISTEN.  It was great to be on the show with Kelly, she is one savvy business woman and a really smart cookie!  She asked me about the history of BIGSHOT™ and we talked at length about the different stages of growth BIGSHOT™ has seen over the last 10 years. I didn't anticipate this going into the interview but after I was out of the station and back in my car headed for the office I realized how much fun it was to review the history of my company and how it gave me some much needed clarity on business decisions I am making right now.  Knowing history is half the battle of knowing how to move forward. If it's been a while since you thought or discussed at length about the path you have taken to get where you are at I would encourage you to do so, and soon.  I think you will find the clarity you get from reviewing your professional history to be enjoyable, enlightening and relevant to the issues you are dealing with right now.
