If you are reading this, you probably either subscribe to this blog or you found this via a Google search. You are probably wondering why your file gets the message "This file type is not supported" when you try to upload it. I think the reason is obvious, it is not supported. The question really should be, "How do I get my file type supported?" Read on and I will show you.
The answer can be found in Global Configuration. Let's walk through this.
Now that you know all this, it seems obvious. Many aspects of Joomla fit that pattern. Features in Joomla may seem confusing at first, but are very easy and make sense once you learn how to do it.

lisa, try the advice here for Joomla 1.0 http://www.joomla-tips.org/hac...orted.html I found this useful, but I am still stuck...anyone know how I can modify this php file (below) through the administrator functionality of Joomla. Simply using it in the address bar, I get restricted access warnings or a blank screen. Maybe the file is on a server I don't have access to? /administrator/components/com_media/admin.media.php |

| @pedro - go to Components > eXtplorer. BTW, I use Joomla 1.5.13 and the file is simply called media.php. | |
