Last year, while talking with Barrie North on Skype, he mentioned that he would be creating a video book to compliment his book Joomla! A User's Guide. Those videos are packaged into a Video Training DVD called Fundamentals of Joomla!
The videos take you through Joomla at a slow pace. This is not a bad thing. In fact, I would say that it is a good thing since everyone learns at a different pace. These training videos are packed with over 9.5 hours of information.
Each lesson in the training corresponds to a chapter in the book. Lesson 1 corresponds to Chapter 1, Lesson 2 corresponds to Chapter 2, etcetera.
After getting you familiar with Joomla, Barrie North takes you through a couple of real world case studies that hold your hand step by step through the process of how to set up different types of websites.
Lesson 13 is a bonus lesson that is not found in the book. It walks you through creating a membership website.
Although a video book is no substitute for time and experience actually using Joomla, however it does get you up to speed faster.
The training videos are not yet available and we do not have a specific date when they will be. I suspect it will be in the near future.
On a lighter note, when you watch the video, pay attention to the books on Barrie's desk. You will see five copies of his Joomla! A User's Guide book. It makes you wonder how often he uses his own book as a references.
