I have been meaning to blog about this for some time now. It seems that now is the time to do it. For beginners, the concepts of how content is organized in Joomla can be a little confusing. After a little bit, it will become second nature. A couple of months ago, Steve Burge over at Alledia.com compiled a list of the several of them. Filing Cabinet I have been using the "Filing Cabinet" analogy since Mambo. In my opinion, it is the one that best describes the relationship between Sections, Categories, and Articles. Think of sections as drawers in a filing cabinet. Inside each drawer (section), you have folders (categories). Inside each folder (categories), you have pieces of paper (articles). SCAM The other great analogy is SCAM. It has to do with the order in which you create articles. The analogy goes like this: Section Category Article Menu. It simply says that you should create a section, then a category, then the article, and then finally the menu item. If you remember that order and your Joomla experience will go a lot smoother. For other analogies, visit Steve's original post:
